Synopsis

Are you going through a major transition in your life? Does it make you feel stressed out? Does it fill you with worry and fear? Are you looking for some really simple ways to manage stressful situations that occur in your life? Divorce, bereavement, house move, job loss, marriage, pregnancy, new business
These are all major life events that happen to most of us. Some of us may go through them alone, which is really hard. Some of us may have loved ones around us, but they might not truly understand the stress it causes you. Whilst there are lots of practical solutions for these events, finding something to help us through these emotionally are rarer. This is why I wrote this book.
I went through a bereavement, followed by a divorce and then a house-move in the space of 12 months. It was challenging and I struggled. I was lucky that I had my spiritual toolbox that I had spent 15 years building. I want to share these tools with you TODAY. Most of them are free, simple to use and accessible to EVERYONE.
A Gentle Hug for the Soul not only provides you with comfort and reassurance but also with a set of simple and easy to use tools. These include: how practising gratitude in as little as 3 minutes a day can create a more positive mindset; how using affirmations and mindfulness encourages you to live in the present helping to eliminate worries and fears; how to manifest the life you deserve.
A Gentle Hug for the Soul provides practical tips, which means you can start using them today! All you need is you.

My Review

Spirituality is an important topic to me and something I often gravitate towards in times of need or distress. I’m quite eclectic with my spiritual tastes so I’ll admit that I was slightly apprehensive about A Gentle Hug For The Soul – worried, perhaps, that it would contain too much that wasn’t relevant to my own beliefs. I voiced this to Lindsay who assured that she’d written the book with all people in mind, so regardless of your spiritual beliefs you should still be able to get something out of it.

And she was right – the book is incredibly user-friendly, exploring a multitude of different concepts for your “spiritual toolbox” with no suggestion that you must use all of them. The topics chosen are part of Lindsay’s spiritual toolbox, featuring things such as reiki, crystals, acceptance, gratitude, friendships, angels, vision boards, and more. There’s no set belief system required to gain something from the book, and despite me not believing in angels (of which there is nearly a full chapter), for example, I was still able to learn from the book and discover new techniques to employ in my own life.

Chapters are laid out in a nice, easy to read way, featuring explanations of each technique, benefits, things to be aware of, and practical tips to help you get the most out of it. Lindsay uses many examples from her own life to illustrate the power of each topic which I felt was a really effective way of doing so – by reading the book we’re not just learning about these techniques but seeing the results of using them. Lindsay also invites readers to share their own experiences using her hashtag #agentlehugforthesoul, which is a great way of encouraging the reader to get involved and explore putting together their own spiritual toolbox.

There’s only one thing I’d change about A Gentle Hug For The Soul, which is the length – it’s a very short book and I wanted more detail! There’s certainly enough detail to learn something new and I’d say it’s perfect for beginners, however for those of us who are already quite in tune with our spiritual side I would have liked to see more information on different practices (for example a full cycle of moon rituals with steps for each one, or perhaps more detailed information on crystals and their correspondences).

.

Final Thoughts

Despite being a short self-help book, A Gentle Hug For The Soul is a great starter for those that want to build a spiritual toolbox and reading it made me aware of the practices I undertake in my own life that could be listed as such – yoga, moon rituals, altar decoration, and tarot. It’s given me some other ideas to explore and even introduced me to concepts I’d never even heard of, such as Access Bars – something I now really want to try. If you’re coming from a place of pain or discomfort then there are some real game-changers in here and I’d also recommend the book for anyone who is currently feeling balanced and well, as you never know when these tools might help. I wish I’d had them at my disposal during some painful moments of my past, but now I feel more equipped at dealing with whatever life throws at me.

Author Bio

Hi, I’m a spiritual mentor and energy healer. Having spent 15 years reading, learning and attending a variety of workshops I decided I wanted to write a book. I spent 6 months writing that I wanted to write a book, then started telling people I was going to write a book then finally began it in April 2018.
This is my first book and I am planning another for 2019! I have loved writing since I was a young girl where I would often make up names for characters and animals in books. I love reading motivational and inspirational stories. It is so true in what they say, there is definitely a book within all of us!

  2. I’m not very spiritual, but I feel like I need more of a self-help toolbox because I’m really struggling recently.
I’m not sure though if this wouldn’t be detailed enough for me though if you felt it was a little brief.

    1. It’s a very good starting point, so I’m going to use the knowledge I’ve gained from it to do some more tailored research of my own. Which I think is a positive thing!
